Old war shells blowing up farmers?

Canadian Bacon asked:

I know I’ve heard about old, unexploded war shells embedded in European farmland resurfacing and being detonated by farming equipment.

What is this phenomenon called? I know there’s a word for it.

Big thanks for any links about this phenomenon or about such farm stories.

it happens alot. About 50 years ago a Japanese fire bomb was found by a couple of boy scouts and their scout master. It blew them up and started a forrest fire. That is one in the US. Also i recently read that there is a Nuclear bomb that may or may not be live under 12 feet of earth in Georgia. It is probably not live. These are the only ones i can think of in the US
