Replace all world leaders with our own. Sell the countries to big business. They will turn them into good economies like ours and everybody will eat.

The answer to world hunger is shifting global priorities from consumption and wealth building to sharing and cultivating more extensive farming practices in developing nations. For those in industrialized nations, it really can come down to effective policymaking and, again, developing cultural priorities based on feeding those around us. The cultural shifts would also need to be backed up by considerable labor resources as well and additional investments in capacity building for food banks, churches and food outreach programs that do a lot of care and feeding of the hungry,

We also should not ignore that hunger is inextricably tied to issues of fair and affordable housing, health insurance coverage, etc.

Rather than send money to world leaders in foreign countries (because they get rich while the poor get poorer) we might as well be sending equipment and teach them how to utilize it. Give a man a fish-he’ll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and you’ll feed him for life.

Very complicated situation. I got back from Africa a few months ago after looking into this and there’s no simple solution. It’s something that needs to be tackled simultaneously on many different fronts.

There’s no shortage of people to do the work and the majority of Africans are very hard working and given the right tools and conditions will happily work 18 hours a day. (I say Africans as this is the continent I have experience with and also where the worst famine occurs).

There’s only so much that humanitarian aid can achieve. We can provide seed, tools, education, finance, guaranteed markets etc but we can’t change the geology, geography or climate of some of the worst affected areas.

In many places there are huge tracts of land on which very little will grow, even in the most favorable conditions. In such circumstances the only feasible option is to resettle the population to more favorable areas or provide them with alternative money generating lifestyles which will enable them to buy the food they need from elsewhere (not very practical).

Air dropping farm equipment won’t bring much benefit as the people generally have the tools they need to successfully live by subsistence farming. In areas where the climate and land is kind then a couple of oxen and a bunch of hand tools is usually all that’s needed.
